Darrin grew up in a small town
in Oregon and attended Western Oregon
State University, where he earned a B.A. in
Secondary Education in 1987. After graduating, he traveled to
Japan and taught English in public Junior and Senior High schools.
In 1991 he completed a Master's Degree in English Language
Teaching at the University of Warwick, in Coventry, England. He returned
to Japan to teach English at many levels, including kindergarten,
elementary, Jr. & Sr High, college, and adult. He also taught business
English at companies and did translation work for a variety of organizations.
He returned to America in the spring of 1999. He currently lives in
north Portland with his wife, Noriko, son, Yuuki, and dog.
