Capstone
English Mastery Center

Student
Capstone English Mastery Center is dedicated to teaching English to international students.

We are a small, private, nonprofit school, founded in 1929; under our present management since 1961.

There are no terms -- no quarters or semesters of any kind.

Instead, Capstone has pioneered innovative instructional methods and school management techniques called Individualized Mastery Learning. It is a multi-sensory, self-paced learning environment. The schedule and curriculum are adjusted to the needs of each student. We believe this is a better way than fitting students into an arbitrary school schedule.

We are open 50 weeks a year. Students can enroll on any school day.

Most of our students are studying to pass the TOEFL or TOEIC, but many also wish to improve their English simply for business or personal reasons, or to pass GED, GRE, or GMAT tests.

For information about getting an I-20 form to apply for an F-1 student visa, Click Here

You can easily transfer to Capstone if you are already attending another school in the U.S. on a student visa. Just download our transfer clearance form and fax or mail it to us.

We place a special emphasis on serving our students at a cost they can afford. Our tuition is still the lowest on the West Coast.

Looking west at downtown Portland, home to the largest urban park in the United States. Forest Park is located in the hills in the upper right. Capstone EMC is located just 14 blocks from the river, from the end of the bridge on the right. The MAX light rail trains, which serve the suburban communities of Gresham, Clackamas, Beaverton and Hillsboro go beneath our windows and stop a few blocks away. We are just 7 blocks from the transit mall, where students can conveniently commute to urban and suburban communites in the Portland Metro area.
